Core Competency Year VII: Satisfactory Academic Progress

Project: Instructional Design – E-Learning Module

Purpose:
 

This training module was part of an annual certification program required for Advisors across the Alamo Colleges District. Completion of these Core Competency Trainings was mandatory to remain eligible for stipends and role-based professional development.

​

Overview:
​

The Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) module was created to help advisors better understand how federal and institutional policies affect student financial aid. This eLearning course focused on identifying key compliance requirements, understanding academic thresholds, and guiding students through the appeal process if standards weren't met.
 

Learning Objectives for Advisors:
 

  • Understand what Satisfactory Academic Progress is

  • Know the measures used to determine SAP

  • Determine what affects SAP (e.g., GPA, drops, repeats)

  • Understand Repeat Coursework and the Three-Peat Rule

  • Know the requirements needed to receive a Federal Pell Grant

  • Understand the appeal process for financial aid suspension
